Bangladesh national shot to death by BSF members at Cumilla border

A Bangladeshi man was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday evening near Joshpur Border Outpost (BOP) in Cumilla's Sadar South upazila.

The victim, identified as Kamal Hossain, was the son of Idu Mia and a resident of Jolai Kuriapara village in the same upazila.
The incident was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Md Iftekhar Hossain, commander of BGB-10.
According to Kamal’s brother, Hiron Mia, BSF personnel fired at Kamal around 7:00 pm, after which his body was taken away by an Indian ambulance.
Lieutenant Colonel Iftekhar Hossain further reported that Kamal had apparently crossed approximately 25 yards into Indian territory when the shooting occurred. 'It is believed that the BSF was responsible for the shooting,' he stated.
Efforts are currently underway to communicate with the BSF, and talks regarding the return of Kamal's body are expected to take place soon.
Further information is anticipated after a scheduled flag meeting between officials from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and BSF.
Further details are expected following the flag meeting between BGB and BSF officials.
