India orders Pakistani diplomat to leave within 24 hours amid rising tensions

India has instructed a Pakistani diplomat to depart the country within 24 hours, following heightened tensions resulting from recent military confrontations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

The diplomat, whose name has not been disclosed, was posted at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi. According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, he was found engaging in activities 'incompatible with his diplomatic role.'
This development follows a brief but intense military flare-up last week, which raised fears of a potential fifth war between India and Pakistan. Although a ceasefire was brokered shortly afterward, sporadic clashes continue along the Line of Control (LoC), the contested boundary in the Kashmir region that both countries claim.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the ceasefire on Tuesday but cautioned that it would retaliate strongly if provoked.
The warning came after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first public address since the ceasefire, stated that India would target 'terrorist hideouts' across the border if further aggression occurred.
