India-Russia begin talks on advanced BrahMos missile production

Following the demonstrated success of the BrahMos missile during Operation Sindoor and its use in later engagements with Pakistan, India and Russia have initiated discussions to co-develop a more advanced version of the missile.

Sources indicate that Russia has committed to providing comprehensive technical assistance for the joint development of the upgraded missile system. Preliminary talks between officials from New Delhi and Moscow have already taken place.
The newly launched BrahMos manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh has been selected to produce the next-generation missile. The site is expected to handle large-scale production. Located in Lucknow, the BrahMos Aerospace Unit was built at a cost of ₹300 crore, with 80 hectares of land provided at no cost by the state government. The facility comprises a primary production unit (PTC) along with seven ancillary support units. It was officially inaugurated on May 11 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
