Egypt invites Bangladesh chief adviser Yunus to attend D-8 Summit

Egypt has invited Bangladesh's chief adviser dr. Muhammad Yunus to attend the D-8 Summit which will be held later this year.

During a meeting with Md Touhid Hossain, Bangladesh's foreign affairs adviser, on Wednesday, Egypt’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy, confirmed that Egypt will host the D-8 Summit in 2024. He officially relayed Egypt's invitation for the chief adviser's attendance, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation, commonly referred to as Developing-8, is a group aimed at fostering development cooperation among eight countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
The D-8 was formally established through the Istanbul Declaration during the Summit of Heads of State/Government on June 15, 1997. Its goals include enhancing the member nations' roles in the global economy, expanding trade opportunities, increasing involvement in international decision-making processes, and improving living standards.
The Egyptian ambassador also reiterated his country’s ongoing support for Bangladesh’s progress toward a better future.
