Pakistan to host talks with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt amid Iran war diplomacy

Pakistan is set to host a crucial round of diplomatic talks involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt as efforts accelerate to bring the United States and Iran toward negotiations after weeks of escalating conflict.

Momentum for dialogue increased following a 90-minute phone call between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The conversation, their second in five days, focused on de-escalation and possible pathways to formal negotiations. Despite these efforts, deep mistrust between Tehran and Washington continues to complicate progress.
Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic outreach, engaging with the US and key regional actors to create conditions for talks. A high-level meeting in Islamabad will bring together foreign ministers including Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Hakan Fidan and Badr Abdelatty, under the coordination of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The four-country platform, which emerged from a broader gathering in Riyadh, has quickly become a central diplomatic channel aimed at facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington. Islamabad is increasingly seen as a key intermediary due to its ties with both sides.
Diplomatic sources suggest that direct talks involving Marco Rubio and Abbas Araghchi could take place in Pakistan within days. There is also speculation that Washington may announce a temporary ceasefire to support negotiations, though officials caution that outcomes remain uncertain and dependent on developments on the ground.
