India win praise after 3rd T20 World Cup crown

The cricketing world hailed white‑ball powerhouse India as they etched their name deeper into history with a third men’s Twenty20 World Cup title on Sunday, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in Ahmedabad.

India posted a commanding total before dismantling New Zealand’s batting line-up, sealing one of the most convincing wins in a World Cup final and further cementing their dominance in white-ball cricket.
Opening batter Sanju Samson continued his outstanding tournament run, scoring another 80-plus innings — his third consecutive — and was named player of the tournament for his consistent performances.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah delivered a match-winning spell of 4-15 on what was considered a batting-friendly pitch, earning the player-of-the-match award.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain said India’s success comes from a balanced combination of explosive batting and world-class bowling. He described Bumrah as a “genius” capable of turning matches even on flat surfaces.
Cricket analyst and former England player Michael Atherton also praised the team, calling India the strongest white-ball side in the world after a run of 30 wins in their last 32 ICC tournament matches.
Several prominent cricket figures, including Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen, applauded India’s dominance on social media.
Indian cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also congratulated the team.
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar credited India’s success to strong domestic structures and long-term planning.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav said the team now aims to continue its dominance and is targeting success at the 2028 Summer Olympics, where cricket is expected to feature, along with another T20 World Cup triumph.
