Trump says US may potentially join Israel-Iran conflict
US President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States might become involved in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, according to a report by ABC News on Sunday.
Speaking to ABC’s Rachel Scott, Trump clarified that while Washington is currently not engaged in the hostilities, "it’s possible we could get involved."
Trump also expressed openness to Russian President Vladimir Putin playing a role in mediating the conflict, which erupted on Friday following Israeli strikes targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites.
"He’s willing to help. He called me about it, and we had an extended conversation," Trump said.
Trump and Putin spoke by phone on Saturday, discussing the escalating situation with Iran. The US president noted that their call lasted about an hour and emphasized that both leaders agreed on the need to bring the conflict to an end.
