Putin-Pezeshkian discuss restoration of Iran nuclear deal

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, focusing on the restoration of the Iran nuclear deal and enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
According to a statement from the Kremlin, the two leaders explored ways to advance the strategic partnership outlined in the bilateral Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was signed during Pezeshkian's official visit to Moscow on January 17.
The discussion emphasized expanding economic and trade collaboration, particularly through joint initiatives in the energy and transportation sectors.
President Putin extended his condolences to the Iranian people over the tragic explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port on April 26, which resulted in at least 70 fatalities. President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude for the swift assistance provided by Russian emergency response teams and acknowledged their professionalism during the crisis.
Iran officially concluded search and rescue operations at the port in Bandar Abbas on Sunday, marking the end of emergency efforts following the devastating blast.
During the call, President Pezeshkian also congratulated Putin and the Russian people on the 80th anniversary of their victory in World War II.
Both leaders also addressed key regional and international matters, including the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States over Tehran's nuclear program. These discussions are currently being facilitated by Oman.
President Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to help mediate dialogue between Tehran and Washington, stressing the importance of reaching a fair and lawful agreement.
