Israel poses greatest threat to peace and security: Iran

Iran said Wednesday that Israel's attacks on Syria pose an unprecedented threat to international peace and security, calling on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the UN to respond immediately and effectively to the growing danger.

In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei denounced Israel’s recent air raids, alleging that the attacks deliberately targeted critical infrastructure and deepened the country's "illegal occupation" of Syrian territory.
'Israel has clearly become the most serious threat to regional and global stability,' Baghaei said, adding that Tel Aviv's aggressive actions are being carried out with the backing of Western powers, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
He further claimed that the failure of international bodies to address Israel’s alleged war crimes in Gaza has emboldened its military posture across the Middle East. “The silence of the global community regarding the genocide in Gaza has only encouraged Israel to escalate its violence beyond Palestinian territories,” Baghaei warned.
Iran's call to action comes amid heightened regional tensions following a series of Israeli strikes on Syrian military and civilian sites in recent weeks. These attacks have drawn growing criticism from Arab and Muslim-majority nations, who view them as violations of sovereignty and international law.
Tehran is now pushing for an emergency session of the OIC and stronger measures from the UN Security Council to curb what it describes as Israel’s "unlawful and destabilizing conduct." Baghaei emphasized that without firm international action, the situation risks spiraling into a wider conflict affecting the entire Middle East.
