Arab leaders call for immediate end to Israel's 'genocidal war' on Gaza

Arab countries on Tuesday called for the immediate cessation of Israel’s 'genocidal war' in the Gaza Strip, as the conflict grinds into its second year with no sign of resolution.
Speaking at an open session of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, representing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), painted a grim picture of the humanitarian crisis. He said the meeting was being held 'during one of the darkest chapters of Gaza’s tragedy,' pointing to nearly two years of relentless bombardment, a suffocating blockade, and mass civilian deaths.
According to Arab officials, more than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began, the overwhelming majority women and children. Entire neighborhoods have been flattened, hospitals have been brought to collapse, and food, water, and medicine remain desperately scarce.
'The situation in Gaza is not just a war zone—it is a living example of genocide and ethnic cleansing, a wound so deep that the world cannot afford to look away,' Sheikh Sabah told the Council. He urged member states to move beyond statements of concern and adopt enforceable measures to stop the bloodshed, open humanitarian corridors, and ensure protection for civilians.
Egypt’s ambassador to the UN, Osama Abdelkhalek, echoed the demand for a ceasefire, stressing that Cairo has resisted Israeli provocations precisely to avoid a wider regional escalation. But he accused Israel of showing 'a stubborn insistence' on prolonging the war, despite the catastrophic human toll. 'The humanitarian nightmare in Gaza must end,' he said.
Palestine’s UN envoy, Riyad Mansour, delivered one of the most emotional appeals of the session. 'Palestinians are not subhuman. We deserve life, freedom, and dignity,' he declared. Mansour condemned Israel’s actions as indefensible, adding: 'No genocide, no theft, no forced displacement, no colonization, no annexation, no occupation—save Gaza. Save Palestine. Save peace.'
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit went further, warning that the war’s intent was clear: 'to destroy Palestinian society and render the entire territory uninhabitable.' He cautioned that Gaza’s destruction would not remain confined to Gaza and would inevitably spill over into the region, undermining international peace and security.
'If the Security Council allows this ruthless and reckless plan to continue, it will not only lose its credibility but its very purpose,' Aboul Gheit warned.
The Arab leaders’ message was united and blunt. the world cannot stand by while Gaza is systematically devastated. They called on the Security Council to adopt urgent, morally sound, and enforceable measures—before the crisis reaches an irreversible point.
