Bangladesh pays $384 million to Adani Power

Bangladesh has paid 384 million US dollar to India's Adani Power in June, marking a significant reduction in its outstanding dues under a long-term power purchase agreement.

According to two individuals familiar with the matter, the payment—made as of June 27—covers a large portion of the $437 million commitment for the month. If the remaining amount is settled by the end of June, Adani’s pending claims will drop to approximately $500 million.
Bangladesh has faced challenges in fulfilling its financial commitments under the 2017 agreement due to rising import expenses triggered by the Russia-Ukraine war and internal political instability. These issues previously led Adani to cut power supply by half in 2023.
However, after Bangladesh resumed more regular payments, full electricity supply was restored in March 2025. To date, Bangladesh has paid nearly $1.5 billion of the total $2 billion billed under the agreement.
