Tehran attacks US base in Qatar, hours later Trump states Israel-Iran truce

US President Donald Trump has declared a “complete and total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran, scheduled to take effect within 24 hours, following a day marked by intense military escalation in the Middle East.
The announcement came shortly after Iran launched an attack on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday, in retaliation for recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Qatari officials reported that the incoming missiles were intercepted successfully before causing damage.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Assuming all goes according to plan, which it will, I want to commend both Israel and Iran for their Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence in bringing to a close what should be known as ‘THE 12 DAY WAR’.”
US military sources, cited by Reuters, confirmed that Al Udeid was the only American military installation targeted by Tehran. The base, located near Doha, was hit by both short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory. However, US defense officials stated that the attack caused no damage or casualties.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and will share further details as they become available,” a defense spokesperson added.
Following the assault, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reaffirmed Iran’s position, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “We have not infringed upon anyone’s rights, and we will never accept aggression against us. Nor will we bow to pressure. This is the principle of the Iranian people.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also warned that Tehran remains prepared to respond if the US launches any further attacks, according to a statement published on Telegram.
