EU deploys technical team to monitor Bangladesh's election

The European Union (EU) has sent a four-member experienced technical team to monitor the Bangladesh's 12th national election process.
EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Charles Whiteley, affirmed the team's arrival to Wednesday, signaling the commencement of their activities.
According to sources within the Election Commission, the team is scheduled to initiate their monitoring activities starting this Sunday.
Earlier communications from the EU to the Election Commission conveyed the decision to dispatch this technical team, emphasizing that the EU will not be deploying a full-fledged election observation team to Bangladesh for the upcoming national election. The decision was attributed to budgetary constraints, as noted by Election Commission Secretary Md Jahangir Alam in recent statements.
The EU's deployment of a technical team underscores its commitment to contributing to the transparency and integrity of the electoral process in Dhaka, albeit within the limitations imposed by budget considerations.
