Bangladesh pledges fair ties with neighbors: Prof. Wahiduddin

Bangladesh remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering equitable and just relations with its neighboring countries, including India, according to Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Advisor for Planning and Education.

Speaking on Saturday, January 25, at an event hosted by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka to celebrate India’s 76th Republic Day, Professor Wahiduddin underscored the importance of building partnerships rooted in mutual respect and equality.
He stated, 'Bangladesh is dedicated to advancing its relationships with neighbors by aligning with mutual priorities and respecting each other's contexts and sensitivities. Our focus is on strengthening trust and collaboration for the well-being of the people in both nations.'
In his speech, Professor Wahiduddin also reflected on the invaluable support provided by the Indian government and its people during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.
Additionally, he highlighted the significant student-led mass movement in Bangladesh on August 5 of the previous year. He reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering a democratic environment that ensures inclusivity, pluralism, and transparency. This includes the promise of free and fair elections that allow citizens to express their aspirations effectively.
The event opened with remarks from Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma and was attended by prominent political leaders, diplomats, business representatives, civil society members, and both military and civilian officials.
