Helicopter crash in India's Uttarakhand claims seven lives

A helicopter carrying seven people crashed on Sunday in Uttarakhand, a northern state in India, resulting in multiple fatalities.

According to local reports, the helicopter went missing while flying over the Gaurikund area, a popular pilgrimage route. Authorities later confirmed that all seven individuals on board, including six pilgrims and the pilot, had died in the crash, Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar told PTI.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the incident on social media, stating that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local authorities, and other emergency teams were actively involved in search, relief, and rescue efforts at the crash site.
Preliminary information from officials, as reported by India Today, suggested that the helicopter may have veered off course due to adverse weather conditions.
