Pakistan urges dialogue and diplomacy to ease tensions with India

Pakistan has emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions with India.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad on Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan described the existing ceasefire between the two nations as a 'positive step.' He encouraged India to uphold the agreement sincerely and focus on promoting regional peace and ensuring the welfare of both nations’ populations.
The statement followed remarks by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who a day earlier advocated for a “comprehensive dialogue” to address all bilateral issues between the neighboring countries.
Tensions recently flared after a military confrontation that began on May 6, when India launched missile strikes targeting what it claimed were nine terrorist sites within Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In response, Pakistan conducted retaliatory strikes on May 10, hitting 26 Indian military targets, including locations in Indian-administered Kashmir.
