Bangladesh-Qatar sign 10 cooperation documents to take ties to new height

Bangladesh and Qatar elevated their bilateral relations to new heights on Tuesday by signing 10 cooperation documents, comprising five agreements and five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), aimed at bolstering collaboration across various sectors.

The signing ceremony was graced by Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Among the agreements inked were ones concerning cooperation in the legal domain between Bangladesh and the State of Qatar, promotion and protection of mutual investments, avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to income taxes, maritime transport, and the establishment of a Joint Business Council (JBC) between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI).
Additionally, the MoUs encompassed areas such as sports and youth cooperation, manpower employment (Labor), diplomatic training, education, higher education, and scientific research collaboration, as well as a partnership between Qatar Ports Management Company "MAWANI QATAR" and the Chittagong Ports Authority.
The day commenced with a warm welcome extended by Prime Minister Hasina to Emir Sheikh Tamim at her office. They had a tête-à-tête (one-to-one) meeting at the Prime Minister's Office, which was followed by a bilateral meeting. The Emir also graced Bangabhaban later in the afternoon, where he was received by the President.
A high-level Qatari delegation headed by Qatar's emir is paying the state two-day visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the president and the prime minister of Bangladesh.
