Yunus to meet Malaysian PM tuesday to deepen bilateral cooperation

Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will travel to Malaysia on Monday for a three-day official visit aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, investment, labour and other key sectors.

Muhammad Yunus is visiting Kuala Lumpur at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with the two leaders scheduled to hold official talks in Putrajaya on Tuesday (12 August). The meeting will mark the highest-level engagement between the two countries in recent years.
A senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said discussions will focus on ensuring a transparent and efficient process for the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers, as well as expanding cooperation in energy, higher education, halal food production, the blue economy, and addressing the Rohingya crisis.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and notes of cooperation are expected to be signed during the visit.
Yunus will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.
In addition to bilateral talks, the visit will include meetings with Malaysian ministers and business leaders.
Prime Minister Anwar paid an official visit to Bangladesh last October, the first by any head of government since the country’s interim administration took office.
